NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center Programs

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center Remodeling and Service Enhancement

To accommodate larger numbers of patients and to make the transition to a more holistic approach to health care, NorthPoint is upgrading and expanding its facilities with nine additional medical exam rooms, five dental offices and new community spaces. It is also expanding programs and increasing hours.

The $5.8 million remodeling project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2006, will also create an Urgent Care Center on the NorthPoint Campus.

The YMCA Fitness Center

NorthPoint has formed a partnership with the YMCA to create a state-of-the-art fitness center on the NorthPoint campus. The fitness center will provide the necessary tools for community residents to improve their health and wellness. The new fitness center will be located in a new structure that will replace the current NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center Human Services building.

The new structure will also house many community human service organizations and be a service hub for North Minneapolis residents.

Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) classes

MCTC is currently conducting and intends to expand the Community Health Worker program at NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center. These classes prepare students for entry-level positions into the health care field. There are about 90 students attending the classes and more than 150 prospective students are currently on the waiting list to be admitted. In addition, MCTC plans to expand the types of classes it offers on the NorthPoint campus.
